We finally got around to installing this cool device you may have heard of, namely a few weeks ago when Google acquired them. A couple power companies will give it to you for free if you want one; Austin Energy is a rebate and Green Mountain does this with a two-year contract. Our procrastinating was driving by when we’d turn off the power in the living room. Luckily, I think we installed the new thermostat in an hour.
I set up the account, downloaded the mobile app (Somara needs to follow suit) and attempted an estimated schedule for a week. Now will come the learning curve nest experiences to find ways to be more efficient.
Our digital thermostat was a faithful friend for over 12 years but nest is the next step to give the lousy, overtaxed Texas power grid a break.
