Gen Con takes a stand against regressive Indiana government

I can thank the backward people of Indiana for electing someone who will be a bigger asshole than my state’s governor for a couple days. There was never any real love lost because I hated living in their excuse of a “city,” India-noplace. The best description for it…the suburb surrounding no real city.

As of today, their governor signed a bill allowing “religious freedom” for businesses that have to follow their consciences. Translation, it’s OK for oppressed “Christians” to discriminate against people they don’t like due to their interpretation of a fictional book. You know, they now have the freedom be the hateful douchebags they truly are without legal consequences. Similar to how George Wallace defended his redneck base’s right to beat the crap out of Blacks and their allies.

Before the signing, Gen Con stepped up to ask the governor to not sign the bill. Fat chance, when I lived there, many people thought Reagan was the second coming, including their not very funny morning show Bob & Tom (syndicated through Clear Channel of course). The Indiana state senate has 40 GOP members to 10 Democrats, how else did such a bogus law get written.

As a gamer and dorky kid growing up, I am glad Gen Con took a stand against this crap. I didn’t enjoy the grief I received in high school from classmates who picked on my friends and me since our hobby wasn’t “socially acceptable, ” like getting drunk, high or pregnant. Therefore, picking on people who are gay, transgender, Satan worshippers, blue people, whatever, isn’t cool.

I do hope Gen Con follows through on its threat. Sure I have my own motivations beyond “liberal nonsense,” India-noplace was a lousy replacement for Milwaukee and I would attend Gen Con if it were somewhere nicer. Somara has been bugging me to go for years.
