Today our friends Leah and Adam had their first child today. The father kept calling the baby a John Hurt moment…reference to the actor being the first victim in Alien. I know, I tend confuse this actor with William Hurt all the time so I was initially befuddled on why Altered States had anything to do with childbirth when Adam was talking.
This will be the little break on my progress reports regarding Las Vegas. Picayune isn’t always about me, me and more me…that would be the Ayn Rand Society.
However, since we’re here, I will place a wager on the child’s birthday. No, not the Gerber Baby life insurance policy constantly played on late night TV. I will bet on 18 at one of the Strip’s fine establishments at no charge to his parents, meaning they don’t pay me back if 18 is a loser. Should he (Asher) win, we can say it’s a good omen even thought I’m not superstitious. I just like to see probability in action, namely when it goes my way be it roulette, craps, video poker or D&D.
Wish the child and parents luck! They’ll need it because the next thing on their wish list will be sleep.
Catching up on my “media” since I finally have some free time (two weeks later).
While the above picture is a mostly perfect rendition of what the C-section felt like on my side of the blue-paper wall, there’s a few real pictures of mom and baby on Flickr if you want ’em.
Thanks for the note. 🙂
