The current feline resident, the cat I rescued long ago, Caliban is getting on in years so Carolyn and Tom adopted an adorable calico kitten. They were originally going with a male cat but as you see, this little girl is too darling to pass up.
Currently her name is…Hope. As much as I think it’s cheesy, I find it more amusing because my in-laws are huge Obama haters. They’re not quite Birthers yet they’re pretty close based upon the things I’ve heard my mother-in-law say and I think I found the source of their heightened paranoia…the Mormon racist-homophobe hack Orson Scott Card. I’m confident they have no fondness of Bill Clinton neither which compounds my laughter; Hope, AR was Bill’s hometown!
Back to the sweet kitten since I got to hold her, pet her and eventually she fell asleep in my arms like kittens are prone to do.
I thought of a better name too. Due to this cat being a calico, a “breed” that has three different fur patterns: brown tabby, orange tabby and white; she should be named Spumoni. For those not familiar with it, especially in the South, spumoni is Italian neapolitan, just better. In place of the drab, WASP-ish chocolate, vanilla and strawberry, spumoni is more adult with pistachio, cherry and chocolate almond. The cat is also a blend of three colors/flavors and it’s genuinely cute sounding.
Time will tell if I can sway my in-laws. I lost in the long run with Nemo who I thought should’ve been Ashe.
