I caught the last hour of the Kings’ victory over the Rangers, giving the LA team their second Cup in three years and existence. It was quite a goal too. Shot from Carter, rebounded back in by Martinez. Textbook play.
Now I think about how irked I am at GMs Bobby Clarke and Paul Holmgren for trading away Conn Smythe winner Justin Williams to the ‘Canes, Mike Richards to the Kings and Jeff Carter to the Blue Jackets. The last player was allegedly for having an affair with a teammate’s wife, ergo, the Flyers ditched him for moral reasons. Really? Pro athletes acting like philandering d-bags? Firstly, what’s new? Secondly, what and where exactly was the teammate if not with his own wife?
Well I’m glad the Kings pulled through since I dislike most things about New York that isn’t the city’s food, Broadway shows and occasionally its paper of record.
With a black and silver team winning the Cup, I’d say the Spurs are a cinch tomorrow evening against the Miami Floppers. Afterwards the Central Texas vibe will be passed on to my Stars in the long run over the Icecaps.
