In a rare demonstration of me being an adult I successfully signed up to save us $120/year on our trash bill.
While I was home to pick up a change of clothes for my house/catsitting weekend, there was a knock at the door. I thought it was our neighbor/trainer Niko who recently returned from his vacation. Nope, it was a dude representing a trash-collection company. I told him, we’re set, we have Round Rock Refuse. He asked how much? I said it recently jumped to $109/quarter. He then followed up with, do you know why? I replied, they told me the landfill raised or I figured they have to travel farther for another one. Turns out, he represented the company which owned said landfill. He was the neighborhood offering a new, new low rate but they also do recycling so I pounced on it. I loved RRR because they were more reasonable than the BFI empire yet they never did recycling in our neighborhood. These guys own a recycling center and even better, they can process all plastics, not just type 1 and 2, inject mold junk! I know my recyclables from years of volunteering for Ecology Action. Woo hoo! A little extra money and an exciting story to post on my Web site!
Well, I had to write something to show I don’t spend all my leisure time acting like a giant kid having a fun time.
