Our GWD team finally won! Well, we actually got together or I managed to show up…after an exciting train ride to Crestview. For the quiz, we agreed to check out a new location, Billy’s on Burnet instead of our traditional Mr. Tramp’s. The verdict? I think the greater food selection was great yet I didn’t enjoy having to get my own drinks, I’m lazy.
So in short, we kicked ass! We were in the lead out of the box and maintained it all the way to the end. In past matches, we’ve often choked during the last, general knowledge round because our lead was pretty slim. Besides earning first place, we set a new record score for the venue…88 points. You can see more here. It was also my turn to choose our team name. I tried to go with something topical like others, hence the modified Mike Wallace quote from The Insider. Either I don’t have the talent or the Billy’s crowd isn’t into this as much as the Mr. Tramp’s one.
I hope we regroup next week to defend our title!
