The “younger” Lowrys celebrated eight years of marriage yesterday. I remembered as I got a quick message in to Ethan but I lacked any time to remind you all here. Work was non-stop and then I had to rush north to Reaganstan (aka Cedar Park) to see my team lose game two.
The wedding gift choices bite. Who came up with this junk? Bronze? Pottery? Great if you live in Ancient Egypt or Mesopotamia. The old Geek list drew up snake eyes…Web links, really? “Hey dear, happy anniversary, I got you the URL for an aggregate site because you’re too dumb to find one yourself.”
Here’s a more modern option. Lace and linens. Ugh. Tablecloths and bedsheets. Lame. These choices are right up there with getting socks for Christmas. I am glad the world has tuned out some parts of the Miss Manners world since necessities are not a gift amongst immediate family members. A stranger, a family friend or a distant relative, sure; “Hey, thanks for the cool blanket I’ll use for my dorm bedroom Aunt Sam!”
I do hope they come to visit with their trio of fun little girls. We can have a nice dinner, make them laugh before they become jaded teens.
Meanwhile, K & E, be ready for a barrage of gift cards from Bed, Bath & Beyond.
