Week Eighteen of NHL 2006-07

According to the Philly paper, my Flyers have finally accepted this season as a wash and now they only plan their objectives in five-game intervals, probably with the objective of being “be in better shape next season.” I think Coach Stevens is being a little too optimistic since the trade deadline is in 20 days and he probably has no idea which players he’ll be losing. Heck, even according to another recent story, Stevens may have a new GM to report to in the Summer because Holmgren is only in the job until season’s end. Trade rumors around Forsberg are growing since the Swede’s tone and attitude have shifted, if Fox Sports is to be believed during the Flyers’ victory over the Thrashers.

Phoenix won last night just when I thought they would remain “off or on vacation” for another day after the Super Bowl. A nice victory over Columbus, another franchise being rebuilt on the fly. Every game is very critical for them to get to the playoffs. Too bad Detroit is scheduled for tonight. I’m still cheering them on for a first round appearance because I think they can do it.

No news on the Penguins. I have no idea where the deal is at as the deadline for a decision seemed to pass with nothing stated. Will it be Kansas City or Pittsburgh? I never did find anything on Houston.

Well, both of my teams are playing tonight so I can get a glimpse of what they’re doing and see how the trade rumors pan out this week.
