Icebats have a postseason, finally!

The Austin Icebats are in the CHL (Central Hockey League, not the more popular CANADIAN Hockey League which encompasses the WHL, OHL and QMJHL) playoffs for the first time in five years…and by the skin of their teeth too. Unfortunately, they lost the first game of three to the Odessa Jackelopes, 4-1. They’re playing here on Wednesday night so I’ll have to go. It’ll help me get in the spirit of the upcoming AHL and NHL playoffs. AHL? San Antonio will finally appear and they may actually have a prayer, unlike their parent team Phoenix.

Anyone else want to join me? For all of the Icebats’ foibles, I still like them and probably will. The more expensive proxy-palooka Stars that Cedar Park will be importing in the next several years seem interesting yet any team I don’t have to pay for parking to see gets a thumbs up in my book!
