Hall of Fame stiffing and AHL re-alignment

This week, the Hockey Hall of Fame announced who was being inducted. If it weren’t for Chelios getting in, I’d say their Canadian bias were showing since Roenick, Housley and Tkachuk got stiffed. Lindros was a stretch for a nomination. I guess he falls under the awards for most concussions, worst kvetching mother and the man who screwed over the NHLPA by firing the guy who could’ve prevented the last lockout. The others who got in were good picks, especially all-time Gordie leader Shanahan. Better luck next year guys.

The board of governors in the AHL approved the latest re-alignment since Peoria and Houston are no more. Houston as Iowa replaces Peoria in the Midwest. Utica starts out in the North thus bumping Abbotsford into our grouping. Now our short-lived South Division is renamed West. Never mind Charlotte being present. They had to go with a direction-based name because “…and the rest” isn’t very marketable. I will miss our old rivalry with Houston. I think the city will have a new team in a couple years, screw the Rockets.
