Happy 45th birthday to me this week and one million words!

Another successful four-day weekend for me! It was pretty great, maybe not as cool as last year when Jose and Nancy came down to hang out along with numerous others whose company I dig at Pinballz.

This time was a bit more laid back, obviously the Adam Ant concert to get things initiated. Slept in a bit, cat stuff, worked out, nephew time, anniversary matters, fancy dinner and capped off Sunday with minor chores before meeting Joel Hodgson (story coming). I almost forgot to mention I achieved another running milestone. Sunday morning was when I completed 200 miles in two months!

The actual day involved some errand running, namely delivering decorated bags to Terra Toys. The staff let me have a couple prizes from the birthday chest and I got to finish my Powerpuff Girls opus at the kids table. Joel Hodgson inspired me to make a little tribute to his robot-watching buddies. Best of all, the Playmobil disco accessory arrived! I can’t wait to show this off and I’m looking into stop-motion software to use with a camera. Maybe Somara has a decent stand.

The me time at Pinballz rocked. I beat Bugs Bunny Birthday Bash for three games, Sorcerer for one (really hard), Simpsons Pinball Party for one and got hooked on Fruit Ninja, after I figured out you must touch the screen, it’s not a Kinnect system. Oh the memories of the older videogames 30 years ago when they were challenging.

With it being my birthday, we had dinner at Pizza Bistro (formerly Mangia’s) and the Derrs joined us. The restaurant gave me a piece of apple pie on the house.

I had the following day off too. This one covered the errands I just didn’t want to waste on my birthday, namely getting new running shoes, exchanging some Chucks I discovered were two sizes smaller than the box claimed (the great staff at Converse handled it with aplomb), new albums at Waterloo Records and used Christina’s birthday money to have lunch at 24 Diner. Someday I will have an entree there and it won’t be a patty melt, it just wasn’t that day.

Before I wrap up with my first one million words, I want to thank everybody for the nice birthday wishes, the little movie I received from the little buddies in New York and a call from José. I’m sure I’ll spot more in the mailbox, I’m often late getting stuff out the door, especially when the friend’s birthday is near the beginning of the month.
