Stars roll on in three-peat weekend

Tonight our Stars roll back into action against their other rival, the OKC Barons. We won’t be attending due to other social/household obligations. However, last weekend they amazed us by wracking up a six-point weekend with 18 goals and a hat trick.

All I know about the Friday game in SA is they won, 3-1. Making their losing streak just a game. I don’t count OT losses since we get a point. To me, a real loss leaves you empty handed or knocks you out of the playoffs.

There must’ve been some ugly, unresolved tension because the Saturday re-match dragged out near the end with numerous fights. The silver lining was backup goalie Josh Robinson’s AHL debut with  6-0 shutout.

Sunday boded badly. The Stars were back on the ice in less than 20 hours to face the Heat, another team they tend to get into fisticuffs with. It was looking sad as the Heat pulled ahead 3-1. Then my team pulled together, tied the game and left the opposition in the dust, 9-3. The Heat’s coach kept the poor rookie goalie in the net as his suffering continued. Meanwhile I witnessed my first live hat trick! It was worth losing a hat to Colton Sceviour’s spectacular scoring feat. Travis Morin kept up his point streak to earn the weekly award from the AHL.

It’s early. I won’t be preparing to have my photo with the Calder Cup until I see how the injuries accumulate by February.
