This great piece of news was probably ignored due to the shutdown and it’s a huge relief since I live in Texas. The Christian Dominionists on the SBOE may finally realize that this state’s size and rising star will prevent them from promoting their crap. I can only hope the same with history books yet I doubt it, those materials are flawed across the spectrum.
Science on the other hand is solidly defined on what is true. My favorite rebuttal to their weaselly argument about evolution being only a “theory” (wrong connotation) is to spin it back with gravity’s theoretical status. Maybe they’ll give me a demonstration of flying.
Religion is fine and dandy as a personal matter. These people need to relax. Science isn’t against, nor concerned about their spirituality. Evolution doesn’t negate the validity of treating other people nicely, a tenant of Christianity they often don’t emulate.
Let’s see what happens next. Will the era we live in be remembered as the comeback toward greater knowledge or as I fear, The Stupid Ages.
