Yesterday was a huge joyous occasion, the awaited arrival of the Derrs’ first child (is first appropriate since I have no idea how many kids are planned or this guy will be an Only). Doesn’t matter in the end because Somara and I are stoked! Jeremy has been our friend for over 13 years and Kristin was a slam dunk right away. Ergo, Ben will be a hit with us. Poor kid will be surrounded by an army of nerdy adults! As per Patton Oswalt’s fear with his children, they’ll grow up to be bullies and start by throwing daddy’s space marine rifle replica on the roof.
The Derrs will be in the hospital for a couple more days as Kristin recovers. Then let the adventures in parenting begin!
I’ll warn everyone up front, be prepped for funny pictures with this guy. Most people in the Derrs’ social circle bought the kid humorous wardrobe items.
