Another great evening of live comedy in Austin with up and coming stand-up comedian, Nikki Glaser. You may recognize her through Inside Amy Schumer and her podcast Not Safe with Nikki Glaser. After listening to Nikki’s set, I’m going to give the latter a try because I don’t have cable. She was very funny, a tad dirty for general audiences but hey, I’m fine with letting comedians do their thing. Plus, in light of our current political dilemma, I wanted to show my support for other voices. The late Christopher Hitchens claimed that women aren’t/can’t be funny. I strongly disagree. Nikki was on a roll covering subjects such as relationships ending, her dog and commercials promoting anti-depressants. The audience enjoyed her in kind. Thus, we can all virtually dance on Hitchens’ grave.
Opening for Nikki was another promising comedian named Tom Thakkar. He originally hails from Bloomington, IN so we talked about Carmel (wealthy suburb of Indianapolis) jokes. Since he is half-Indian, he really put that unwarranted question in its place. You know the one, “Which kind of Indian? Dot or feather?” He said, when I encounter a White person I ask, “Which kind of White are you? Potato or Nazi?”
Next up, Greg Fitzsimmons. I have one of his CDs.
