Rest in Peace Kody

With much sadness for I was too late to finally cover this cute little girl kitty in my section about Jennifer’s seven cats (this would’ve been number six). However…I’m going to try as I hold back the tears.

This was Kody, probably the oldest of the pride. Yesterday morning she slowly passed away in the arms of her human family (Jennifer and daughter Cheyenne) as her heart slowly stopped beating. We all knew the end was coming for her eventually as Kody developed that hyper metabolism some older cats get before they pass. It’s just heart-wrenching because cats can live for years in this state and then they’ll suddenly go downhill before you’re ready. (This was the case for Miette and Nemo too.)

I didn’t get to know Kody for too long but I developed a little crush for her due to her being a tortoise shell, they’re often friendly. Despite always being hungry and having a skill for getting into “people food,” Kody was very affectionate as she often rushed to sit on Jennifer’s lap while we watched television and/or TikTok videos. Kody also led the meal rush with her mewing as the others followed her lead to the food dishes. As for the foster kittens, Kody was the nicest to them…being the only adult who never hissed at their curiosity. I’m going to say she was a willing tutor and not suffering from dementia.

Goodbye Kody. May your journey across the rainbow bridge lead you to a place with plentiful tuna, warm spots to sleep in and you get to play with my kitties who’ve left me as well; I bet even grouchy Molly likes to wrestle in a friendly manner. You were a wonderful cat who deserves peace and we will never forget you.

So nice to read your lovely obituary for this sweet little cat. She must have lived a good life in Jennifer’s care and yours.. Thanks for letting me know Steve, and we are sorry for your loss.
