Around lunchtime I received an e-mail from my lawyer’s office (yes, I still have to pay one) with the great news. We finally got a judge to sign off on my offer to Somara to get her completely out of my finances. Now all I have to do is wait for the $25,000 hit to my 401k that both political parties have guaranteed I won’t live long enough to use. The divorce has gone from 99.999% over to 100! I use those numbers because I have been free to see other women since November 2019 but any financial obligations are done. Should I choose to sell the house, I get to keep all the profit…not very much given the mortgage is only a year completed plus the new roof. This also includes any other monetary windfalls possibly coming my way, yeah, right.
This weekend though, we will meet to resolve the debacle involving the safety deposit box she got stuck paying for while I have both keys. I want to remove whatever is in there. My guess it’s just the deed to my timeshare, Somara refused it. I also get back two key things her sister accidentally packed, my autographed Crowded House poster and Mission Hill hand-painted cels. I don’t mind meeting Somara for what could be the last time in person, I have no idea what the future holds. I am still Uncle Steve to her nephews.
