Well, we looked good on paper being the number eight team against the number nine team in the tournament’s first round. So we were right in the middle and that meant the teams were supposed to be evenly matched. Hell, I heard Marquette needed three points to beat the spread according to Las Vegas. But let’s remember, the opponent was the UNC Tarheels, practically an NBA franchise, at worst D or G League. This school takes college basketball too religiously and the redshirting they’ll do to get their championships borders on cheating. Imagine the crap they pull off under a cover of darkness.
It’s OK. As I have always said long after I graduated, my BA and all my friends’ degrees remain valid. We can be grateful that sports are not the determiner for accreditation on the education we received or there’d be tens of thousands of pissed, ripped off UT students throughout Texas and the globe. I also hope those of you with children don’t let your kids choose their higher education destinations over a sports franchise. If it’s the primary factor with your offspring, you might want to just save your money and make them attend a local community college for the first couple years. Northwestern is the only university I automatically give a pass on. They may be in the Big 10 and boy do they suck.
Until next year, Marquette will continue to cry in its collective beer, reminiscing over 2003 and 1977. I can relate. I’ve never nailed the brass ring in any career for decades too.
