Pinballz finally brought in one of the coolest looking machines from a movie I have often loved! Alamo Drafthouse once called it the new Wizard of Oz for today’s homosexual generation. Probably due to the colors and garish fashion. Who cares! Flash Gordon was a flop at the box office but it has lived on a favorite movie by how it turned the old Buster Crabbe serials 90 degrees into what I imagine they wanted to do in the Thirties if they had the money and technology.
As a pinball machine, Flash Gordon is a rarity. A good machine belonging to a great franchise. Usually you rarely get both. Twister? Dumb film, great game. Star Wars the 1997 re-issue, despite Greedo shooting first, still awesome movies; the machine, stingy and annoying.
My only wish for the game? It’s a bummer that the technology for speech on electronics was very limited in 1980. Having several Queen tracks and other catchphrases from the movie would’ve been great!
