One awesome encounter at Tahiti Village was with the maintenance manager who helps oversee the feral cat population around the parking garage. It was good news mostly. Through her efforts with the city/county, many have been rounded up over the last year. They were spayed/neutered and adopted. Most used to be someone’s pet based upon their behaviors. Those cats which couldn’t be re-integrated have been returned to the area, approximately five. However, nature abhors a vacuum so others seem to move in because there’s food, water and shelter. AT least it’s more manageable and they’re not breeding, exacerbating a horrible problem.
The tuxedo cat I photographed is a polydactl and I spotted a young rag-doll alongside a couple black cats.
I gave the nice manager lady my e-mail and a couple cans of cat food to help out. Should these animals need a little help, I will gladly chip in. They are one of the minor attractions I enjoy seeing. It’s also fascinating how animals adapt rapidly to urban environments.
