What really happened when Bowie recorded “Warszawa”

Hard to believe the Thin White Duke has been gone five years. For the fifth anniversary of his passing, I’m reposting this cartoon my friend Mark M sent me. It’s a comical take on the song Bowie wrote with Brian Eno and other little funny jabs about them along with longtime collaborator Tony Visconti. It was made while he was still alive so I wonder if he ever watched this. Given his sense of humor, I think he would’ve chuckled. Bowie was only touchy about how his music was used generally.

Next year he would’ve been 75. This has inspired me into composing a proper collection of covers since too many compilations are uneven (like Queen’s) and too many people cover “Heroes,” from the great, Peter Gabriel, to the awful, Wallflowers. After “Heroes,” why is “Boys Keep Swinging” the next go to? Well, I promise to find better takes and preferably by those he really inspired.
