RIP Felix Silla

One would rarely recognize the actor in public, but we all know the characters he played the years thanks to his diminutive height. In the Sixties, he was Cousin Itt on The Addams Family and the child ape who spotted Taylor during the funeral in Planet of the Apes, but a real kid dubbed the voice. During my childhood, he wore the robot costume to play Twiki with Mel Blanc doing the goofy voice. He also played in Ewok in Return of the Jedi.

Beyond those things I instantly knew, Felix was often typecast as an alien or something else involving his stature. He did get a few breaks to just have a role in which it didn’t matter: The Sting II, Ghostbusters II and a voice for the animated version of The Lord of the Rings.

Thanks for all your work Felix. It does suck that Hollywood did typecast you but I bet there’s one person who really appreciates your paving the way for them…Peter Dinklage.
